Jason via e-mail: "Thanks Movember! I have depression and hadn't really told anyone and never discussed it. I grew a Mo and it gave me a way to tell my mates about my depression. The response was amazing - see you next Movember"

Mick via e-mail:  "Movember is the first charity event I could relate to and wanted to get involved with. Me and my mates formed a team and for the first time ever we talked about depression and Prostate Cancer."

Lauren via e-mail: "Finally there is something for men's health!"

Ben via e-mail: "My Mo was pretty bad, my girlfriend wasn't that keen on it but I proudly told everyone I came across why I was doing it. The response was amazing, it started conversations about depression and Prostate Cancer, something we would never talk about"

Stephan via e-mail: "I was growin and through Movember my father become aware of the need to be regularly tested for Prostate Cancer. He had the test, had Prostate Cancer, had the surgery and is recovering nicely. Funny what a moustache can do!"

Andrew Giles, CEO, Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia: "No other single event has affected the understanding and awareness of prostate cancer as much Movember. What was often a taboo subject only a few years ago is now starting to become a mainstream issue (as it should be) thanks to the thousands of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas who show such great support each Movember. An important aspect of the campaign is that for many of the men with prostate cancer, Movember was the first time that they saw the general community offering them support and encouragement in their fight. Of course the greatest aspect of Movember is the millions of dollars that have been raised to go into the world class research that is being undertaken in Australia. With every dollar raised the cure to prostate cancer is a step closer.

"I'd like to thank the organisers of Movember 2006, the media for its support, all the men who have grown moustaches and their supporters. It's been a fantastic effort to get so many people involved, but the most important thing is that throughout November - and for a long time afterwards - men were talking about doing something for their mates and depression. Across Australia there have been discussions about the signs and symptoms of depression and what can be done about it.

Leonie Young, CEO, beyondblue: the national depression initiative: "beyondblue's aim is to get the message out that depression is common and most people recover if they get the right treatment. The sooner you get help, the sooner you're on the road to recovery. We know that men aren't very good at looking after their own health and often go out of their way to avoid telling their family or doctor about things they think may be a weakness or embarrassing. Movember has helped us to lessen the stigma associated with depression and we'll continue our efforts to remove it completely.

"I look forward to the day when men seek information and help for depression in the same way they'd get attention for a broken arm or an engine that's not running too well! Our sincere thanks to all involved and congratulations again to everyone who participated in changing the face of men's health in Australia."

Graeme Holloway, Pharmacist, President Pharmaceutical Society of Australia:"Men's health is a big issue and you have done a great job in bringing it into the public eye - every guy who makes an effort to get over their complacency and head off to the doctor is helping to get on top of the men's health problem in the community."
